Biography: Film/Video. Jeanne Liotta (NYC/Boulder) makes films and other cultural ephemera such as music videos, photographs, live projection performances, works on paper and an occasional object. Her most recent body of work spans a constellation of mediums at an Emersonian intersection of art, science, and natural philosophy, in Real Life and in Second Life. Her film Observando El Cielo won the Tiger Award for Short Films at Rotterdam and was selected as Top Ten Films of 2007 in Artforum , and her film Eclipse was installed in the 2006 Whitney Biennial. She also maintains ongoing research into The Joseph Cornell Film Collection at Anthology Film Archives, and has been running a free outdoor cinema called Firefly Cinema in a community garden in the L.E.S for over 15 years. She has taught widely and variously, at The New School, NYC; The San Francisco Art Institute, The Museum School Boston, and is presently teaching at The Univ. of Colorado Boulder, as well as at the Milton Avery Graduate School of the Arts at Bard College NY, where last summer she spearheaded a memorial screening of the films of Chick Strand outdoors in a thunder and lightning storm .Contact:
