EUS students take classes and explore other opportunities outside of the usual times and places. There are research opportunities and leadership workshops at Bard over the summer or over special weekends, and an international network of affiliated colleges with courses in the natural sciences, social sciences, arts, languages, and literature.
EUS Internship Program
The EUS internship program provides students with experiential learning opportunities during the academic year and summer. The program aims to foster an understanding of how a liberal arts and sciences education applies to professional work, and provides students with a sense of career opportunities within their chosen field.
An Internship Approval Form must be submitted to the executive administrator or program director prior to the start of your internship.
An Internship Evaluation Form from you and your supervisor must be submitted after your internship has been completed.
Finally, you must give a brief presentation on the accomplishments and skills gained from your internship in order to receive recognition from the EUS Program.

The John Honey Scholarship (via the Rhinebeck Farmers’ Market) A $2,000 award is given to a graduating Rhinebeck or Red Hook High School senior, a current college student from Rhinebeck or Red Hook, or a student who is the child of a Rhinebeck Farmers’ Market vendor majoring in agriculture, food science, environmental studies, or a related field. The Lytle Family Fund This fund provides grants to students in the EUS, American Studies, and History Programs to fund their internships. Grants are in the $250–$600 range. Contact Professor Emeritus Mark Lytle directly with questions.
EUS majors with a strong foundation in science, policy, and/or economics may apply to the Bard Center for Environmental Policy 4+1 Program, earning in five years a BA and a master of science in environmental policy or in climate science and policy or an MEd in environmental education.
The Bard Globalization and International Affairs Program in New York City provides a unique opportunity for college students and recent college graduates from around the world to take advanced courses in international affairs while working in professional internships based on individual interests.

Arcadia University Environmental Studies Summer Program This popular summer field studies program brings you backpacking through three weeks in Australia and two in New Zealand. Eco Practicum's Resilience + Resistance NYC Eco Practicum is an environmental sustainability and action program for college students and recent graduates. Resilience + Resistance NYC is an experiential summer program for current college students, recent graduates, and young professionals interested in engaging with the most pressing socio-environmental issues of our time and working towards social and ecological justice. Part think tank, part action workshop, participants grow food, learn from peers, and meet with the foremost experts in the field.
