Elena is a current graduate student at Bard's Center for Environmental Policy pursuing an M.S. in environmental policy. Before coming to Bard, she was the Associate Director of Communications and Marketing at Merry Lea Environmental Learning Center of Goshen College, where she managed the Center's storytelling and promotional efforts for encouraging audiences to participate in environmental education programs and events. While at Merry Lea, Elena was also an environmental educator, teaching PreK-12 school programs and developing curricula for field trips. Elena’s first introduction to the field of nature conservation began in Honolulu, after she graduated from Indiana University Bloomington with a B.A. in anthropology. In Hawai'i, she served on the External Affairs Team as a Kupu AmeriCorps Intern for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. A native of Elkhart, Indiana, Elena is excited to see where the field of environmental policy leads her as she builds upon her professional and academic experiences in nature conservation.
