We are looking for a Coordinator Biodiversity Policy to provide expertise, analysis, coordination and facilitation to support the WWF network to engage with relevant external decision makers and organisations to help protect biodiversity

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate and support WWF network engagement in appropriate institutions and fora to achieve WWF priority conservation outcomes

  • Consult with WWF network colleagues to develop position papers and policies which give coherence, context and one voice to WWF work with appropriate institutions and dialogues
  • Find and utilize appropriate intervention points in global and regional policy and political processes to develop and deliver priority messaging and work to achieve political outcomes in these processes
  • Develop, lead or support political and advocacy strategies which can deliver outcomes for WWF conservation priorities
  • Build strong links internally with appropriate areas of the WWF network and externally with relevant organizations and individual
  • Lead WWF network engagement with the Convention on Biological Diversity
  • Create, support or manage virtual WWF teams from across programmes to develop common WWF positions on specific issues such as biodiversity – and the private sector, financing, economics, footprint as needed

Qualifications:

  • Graduate or post graduate qualifications in relevant disciplines such as biodiversity, political science, international relations, law, communications or equivalent professional experience
  • At least five years relevant professional experience including advocacy, intergovernmental processes or political analysis
  • Broad understanding of the relationships between biodiversity and geopolitical economic, business, development and industry priorities
  • Knowledge of relationship of global policy norms and standards to on the ground implementation
  • Ability and enthusiasm to digest information from a variety of electronic, verbal and written sources and produce clear analysis and recommendations for action
  • Strategic sense, demonstrable understanding of geopolitics, multilateral, regional and national interests and aspirations
  • Internal and external networking and communications skills, ability to lead and inspire, strong diplomatic skills with sensitivity to political issues and to design advocacy strategies and see them through to success
  • Ability to work in multicultural environment and to create and facilitate virtual teams and virtual workspaces
  • Fluency in written and oral English, other languages an advantage

Description:

The Environmental Law and Policy Center (ELPC) seeks to hire an experienced Clean Energy and Sustainable Business Policy Advocate/Analyst for a full-time position in our Chicago headquarters office. Candidates should have an M.P.P. with strong quantification skills or an M.B.A. This policy advocate/ analyst will principally work with ELPC’s experienced public interest attorneys and  overall clean energy advocacy team to:  (1) Advance energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions to meet energy needs in the regional power markets and help to solve climate change problems; (2) Design, analyze and implement state-based and federal energy efficiency and renewable energy standards; and (3) Analyze and advocate sustainable business and other policy initiatives for Great Lakes protection.

Responsibilities:

Analysis and advocacy of energy efficiency and renewable energy programs, development of climate change solutions and of economic, job creation and environmental impacts of state and federal energy policies.  Engagement on ELPC’s Great Lakes protection and sustainable business policy initiatives.  Presentations in public decisionmaking forums and expert testimony.  The position includes a wide range of responsibilities including economic growth analysis, drafting and publishing reports, and submitting expert testimony in administrative proceedings and before legislative forums.  Participation in stakeholder working groups and other public policy advocacy efforts, teaming with multidisciplinary ELPC Energy Project and Clean Water project teams.

Qualifications:

M.P.P. (quantitative), M.B.A. or Masters in Economics, and policy-technical knowledge in the energy and sustainable business fields.  At least five years of post-graduate experience preferred.  Strong background in policy, financial and economic analysis.  Substantive knowledge of renewable energy and energy efficiency policy, and energy economics. Description:

The Energy Operations Associate assists in supporting CNT Energy’s customer programs and contributes to ongoing communication, education, and new research activities. A primary responsibility is the support of CNT Energy’s real-time electricity pricing programs. As part of the operations workgroup, the Associate works to maintain relationships with customers and assists in the accompanying production work. The Associate shares responsibility for the accurate documentation of these activities, especially as they relate to energy research projects.
