Description: Pesticide Action Network (PAN) North America seeks a highimpact Organizer to support powerful legislation in the state of Iowa to protect farmers and rural communities from pesticide drift. PAN is working with the Iowa Farmer’s Union and other allies to pass state legislation to help prevent pesticide drift from impacting food production and public health. The primary role of the Organizer will be to build support for this bill through community outreach, media work, direct lobbying, and online engagement. This advocacy position combines coalitionbuilding with community organizing and expertise in both social and traditional media.
The ideal candidate will bring twoplus years organizing experience, formal organizing training and a commitment to continued learning. He/she will be bilingual in Spanish and English; tech savvy; a good writer for social media; a strategic thinker; and thrive on building public relationships as part of an organizing effort for change. This position is based in Des Moines, though we will consider candidates in other parts of Iowa, and includes travel throughout the state. We seek someone who is able to build strong, productive relationships with organized groups of people working to build a better food system: farm families, beekeepers, farmworkers, Indigenous nations, faith communities and others. In particular we seek candidates familiar with and passionate about issues of sustainable agriculture and/or environmental health and justice.
Responsibilities:
Organizing
- Build productive public relationships with family farm organizations, health professionals, faith communities, and food justice organizations, among others.
- Connect and support leaders from engaged organizations that are interested in supporting pesticide legislation in Iowa.
- Work with PAN program teams and partner organizations to win policy change.

Qualifications:
Required:
- Twoplus years organizing experience and proven campaign success working with partners from diverse, multiracial communities

Description: The Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe (REC) is an independent international organisation that works in various fields of sustainable development in Central and Eastern Europe and beyond. The REC, which has its head office in Szentendre, Hungary, is seeking applications for a full-time intern.
Responsibilities: The selected candidate will work within the organisation’s Smart Cities and Mobility Topic Area, supporting the team’s work on projects related to sustainable urban development and transport. The main focus of the internship will be a project related to public bicycles and bike sharing. Running for six months beginning in January, the project will study the feasibility of introducing a bike-sharing scheme to the town of Szentendre, Hungary, location of the REC head office. The REC will lead the study with assistance from Szentendre City Hall and the Budapest Transport Centre (BKK). It will investigate, inter alia,
- the potential market for a bike-sharing service in Szentendre;
- the appropriate scale and design of the bike-sharing system;
- the possibility of system implementation as an extension of Budapest’s current system, Bubi;
- financial issues (needed investment, operation costs, financial resources, etc.);
- operational issues; and
- organisational issues, e.g. shares of responsibilities between authorities.
A senior member from the Topic Area will supervise the position.
Qualifications:
- a degree, ongoing studies and/or experience in urban planning, engineering, mobility management, environmental sciences or related field of study;
- familiarity with general principles of sustainable mobility (knowledge of bike-sharing schemes is an asset);

Complete Streets Fellow
The Complete Streets Fellow will support the work of Smart Growth America’s National Complete Streets Coalition, a diverse coalition of prominent national organizations working for the adoption and implementation of Complete Streets policies across the country. The Fellow will be an integral part of the team. Core responsibilities include: researching and drafting new resources and case studies; supporting the development and planning of events and workshops; and producing compelling content for our blog, newsletter, and social media. This position requires knowledge and experience in a broad array of natural resource conservation issues, such as endangered species policy, federal land management policy, renewable energy, landscape level planning and conservation biology. Additional knowledge and experience is required in advocacy in the private, public and governmental sectors; public outreach; media relations; and fundraising, with strong ties to the larger conservation community.
Responsibilities:
Assist with the development and implementation of assigned strategic plans and annual work plans relevant to conservation work in the Northwest contributing to the achievement of the goals and benchmarks in those plans. The focus will be on, but not limited to, the following issues: the conservation of key imperiled species such as the gray wolf, grizzly bear, sage grouse and wolverine and species listed under the ESA; the development of wildlife friendly renewable energy; predator coexistence initiatives, and national forest and other public land management planning and actions.
Actively promote and expand Defenders’ work in the Northwest through best available science, field-based projects, the development and presentation of testimony and formal comments on select state and federal proposed wildlife and public lands management policies and media development. These tasks will be accomplished using a wide range of strategies including:
Recommending litigation where appropriate and providing technical support
Participating in direct and grassroots lobbying of the U.S. Congress and Washington State legislature and agencies
Recommending and facilitating species restoration and reintroduction projects as appropriate
Establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships and partnerships with conservation partners, state and federal agencies and officials, Native American tribes and decision makers and other stakeholders.
Work with private landowners and state and federal agencies to advance the conservation of state and federal ESA-listed species and candidate species.
Serve as spokesperson for Defenders; represent Defenders and Defenders’ interests to the public, the media, and key decision-makers, and in working groups, committees, and processes.
Inform the public and Defenders’ members on key issues through mailings, e-mail alerts, social media, blogs, dissemination of educational materials, and Defenders’ magazine.
Work with Defenders’ national headquarters staff to provide information to members, foundations, and other donors, and help identify and develop potential sources of funding to support work activities and Defenders’ priorities.
Identify key information relating to policy, strategy, and decision-making, and communicate it as appropriate and in a timely manner to the immediate supervisor and other relevant field and headquarters staff members.
As needed, assist and advise the Director of the Northwest Program in problem-solving with regard to regional and national programs.
Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in conservation biology, forest ecology, conservation planning, natural resources management, environmental planning, environmental or public policy, or a related discipline in the natural resources discipline. Advanced degree preferred.
Experience: At least 4-5 years of experience with federal land use management and policy, conservation biology, endangered species policy, natural resources management or wildlife conservation policy. Experience in fundraising and grant writing a plus. An equivalent combination of demonstrated education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.

Description: Transcarbon International Corporation, founded in Silicon Valley in 2006 by Sébastien Raoux, is an independent consulting firm assisting the private sector, the public sector, the voluntary sector, and civil society in implementing sustainable development practices, including climate change adaptation and mitigation measures. Our leadership combines extensive experience in environmental sustainability —particularly in the areas of climate change, energy, and clean technologies—, as well as in business, legal, and public policy consulting. We serve our clients worldwide from our offices in the United States of America and Argentina, with Transcarbon Africa Middle East S.A.R.L based in Morocco and providing services in Africa and the Middle East.
Transcarbon International is currently receiving applications for a position of Country Expert on Low Carbon Technologies for Mexico. The successful candidate will provide LCT technical assistance and also work with various stakeholders, engaging with local resources and technology marketplace players, to facilitate and coordinate the development and implementation of deals, business plans, and operations in Mexico. The expert would be initially committed as a part-time consultant.
Qualifications:
- Must be permanently based in country specific to job selected for and be willing to travel occasionally within the country and internationally as it may be required.
- Outstanding academic and technical credentialsare essential. Must have an advanced degree inEngineering and/or Business and at least 10 years of relevant work experience, including:
– substantial local business experience working with or for the technology industry and solid knowledge regarding the leading businesses and the technology market in post country;
– specific knowledge of low carbon technologies and relevant institutions, as well as of the policies, laws and regulatory framework applicable to climate change and low carbon technology transfer in post country;
- Strong work ethicsand superb communication skills. Oral fluency and superior written skills in both Spanish or French or Portuguese (depending on job applied for) and English are a must.
