Description

Primary Function: To manage lung health, community and clinical based programs in Cook County. The position works 50% on Healthy Lungs Initiative, a partnership between Respiratory Health Association of Metropolitan Chicago (RHAMC) and the Cook County Health and Hospitals System (CCHHS), and 50% on RHAMC’s tobacco control initiatives.

Responsibilities

Healthy Lungs Initiative

  • Work closely with CCHHS Steering Committee, physician leadership and the Clinical Supervisor to:

manage ongoing implementation of Healthy Lungs Initiative

develop plans around program expansion and extension

evaluate the progress of the project and the effectiveness of the interventions

develop and implement plans for data collection, quality improvement and program evaluation

develop plans around dissemination/replication, as needed

  • Develop and monitor the project’s budget
  • Monitor contracts
  • Develop and submit narrative and budget reports to CCHHS Steering Committee
  • Maintain and develop relationships with staff of CCHHS clinics, external clinics and the Illinois Tobacco Quitline
  • Oversee the development of materials as needed
  • Supervise Program Coordinator and other staff, if hired

RHAMC Tobacco Control Initiatives

  • Manage the ongoing development, administration and evaluation of Courage to Quit, RHAMC’s tobacco cessation program for adults and provide technical assistance
  • Facilitate linkages between RHAMC and safety-net health clinics, drug and alcohol treatment centers, community-based organizations, health departments and other agencies throughout the metropolitan Chicago area
  • Develop and track annual and monthly budgets for multiple programs
  • Develop and implement plans for data collection, quality improvement, and program evaluation
  • Plan, design, and conduct tobacco cessation group leader trainings multiple times annually
  • Lead group-based tobacco cessation programs in workplaces and community health clinics, as needed
  • Assist with grant proposal development and review, and manage grants
  •  Draft educational handouts, fact sheets, newsletters, web pages, and other materials, as needed
  • Represent RHAMC on various committees and coalitions working on tobacco control issue
  • Assist with tobacco control policy initiatives

Qualifications/Skills

  • Master’s degree with a background in public health
  •  Previous work experience with policy, systems, and environmental change framework
  • Previous work experience in community health and with program evaluation
  • Previous work experience demonstrating ability to self-start, to organize information, and to prioritize and perform multiple tasks
  • Knowledge of asthma and/or tobacco control
  • Experience working with underserved communities
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary health care team
  • Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal) – the person in this position will interact regularly with clinicians, administrators/managers, and administrative support staff
  • Advanced computer skills and proficiency using Microsoft Office
  • Experience with data analysis
