Description

The Carbon War Room is hiring a Development Intern for Spring semester 2012 in its New York, NY office. The intern is expected to work 8-12 hours a week. Only qualified students interested in gaining practical experience with an environmental and energy non-profit should apply.

The Development Internship is a unique experience for a motivated and talented undergraduate interested in fundraising and developing a working knowledge of the companies, organizations and leaders working to combat climate change and build a post-carbon economy.

Responsibilities

 

  • Reports to the Director of Development
  • Work closely with Development Associate
  • Identify target markets, research major potential funders
  • Update and manage the calendars for fundraising and development-related events
  • Keep the development database updated. Responsible for ensuring database integrity
  • Track and analyze donor information
  • Editing, writing and sending out development-related communications
  •  

    Qualifications/Skills

    Strong organizational, analytical and logistical skills. Attention to detail and timely follow through. The intern must have the ability to work well in-person and by telecommuting with the Director of Development and Development Associate. Development experience, knowledge of foundation grant processes a plus.

    • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, especially Word and Excel
    • Working knowledge of Salesforce or other CRM software
    • Flexible; willingness to tackle a variety of tasks
    • Desire to increase job efficiency and productivity of prospecting
