Description

Eagle Eye seeks a creative leader with passion for empowering underserved urban youth and the organizational and supervisory skills necessary to manage an environmental education and volunteer training program in Somerville and surrounding cities.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of the Program Manager is to work with the Eagle Eye Institute’s Board Foundation Team to coordinate and manage the E.A.G.L.E. program. The E.A.G.L.E. Program is a set of coordinated activities (learning, stewardship, and advocacy) that focus on building awareness, knowledge, and leadership and are intended to start urban young people on a path to becoming effective advocates for themselves and others, for their community, and for the Earth. The Program Manager recruits, trains and supports Tufts University college students and faculty to be “Champions” who then produce Eagle Eye Institute’s programs for youth in the Greater Boston area. These programs include the Institute’s proven Learn About Forests™ environmental awareness one-day programs and community service learning projects. The Program Manager will also provide administrative support to program operations including identifying and securing resources necessary to support and sustain this initiative. This position also includes general office administrative duties including but not limited to answering the phone, reading and responding to emails, opening the mail, updating the database, managing the website and recruiting and working with volunteers to assist with overall program and office duties.

Qualifications

Required – Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of experience, including program management, grant writing, and volunteer management. Demonstrated interest in working with underserved, urban youth of color. Curious about and has a passion for people and the environment. Ability to handle multiple tasks and to meet deadlines. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential. Interest in working with an engaged board is critical. A successful candidate must be self-sufficient, able to work alone with remote supervision and as part of a team. He or she will be detail-oriented, and a strong problem-solver.
