Description

My company has opportunities for professional writers that may be of interest to students and research fellows at the Bard Center for Environmental Policy. MDB, Inc. is currently looking for environmental health and science communication specialists to support our projects at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS). We seek both full-time and part-time professionals who are looking for a challenging career in science communication. Although our offices are located in Washington, D.C. and Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, we support a distributed work environment and our science writers may work remotely.

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will have a MA/MS in science or health communication, science journalism, environmental policy, environmental or biological science, and at least 3-5 years of relevant communications experience. Additionally, the incumbent will need:

· Excellent writing and editing skills, including knowledge of AP style.

· Ability to understand and convey complex environmental health concepts (e.g., human health, environmental justice, environmental health, environmental remediation) in a clear, accurate, and direct style to diverse target audiences.

· Capacity to effectively interact with MDB staff, federal clients, and academics to achieve readability, consistency, technical accuracy, and timely delivery of Web and print materials. Ensure project deliverables are planned and achieved according to client and budgetary expectations. Anticipate, recognize, and resolve issues.

· Strong research and analytical skills.

· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

· Proficient with Microsoft Office products. Skills with graphic design a plus.
