Description

Flying Deer Nature Center in New Lebanon, New York, seeks an individual with a deep personal connection with nature and a desire to be a leader in an organization with an inspired vision. The person we are seeking derives fulfillment from helping youth and adults develop their relationships with nature and community through naturalist education and wilderness skills as well as stories, songs, and games. This is a full-time training position that can lead to considerable opportunities for growth and responsibility in leading programs as well as in the management and administration of a nature-based school. After completion of a foundational training period, the individual may move from the status of trainee to that of Assistant Director.

Responsibilities

Programs: Provide mentoring and instruction in Flying Deer’s educational programs including summer camps, home-school programs, and school-based programs. This includes set-up and break down of the program facility before and after programs; gathering natural materials, equipment, and supplies; collection of feedback on programs; and creation of reports based on that feedback.

Administration: Assist in the marketing of FDNC programs, including distribution of flyers. Assist in the maintenance of FDNC records, including data entry. Be a part of the communications network with parents, community, and supporters.
