Description
We are seeking an experienced Communications and Government Affairs Intern to join our team, working at the corporate office, supporting the Government Affairs and Communications Team in various tasks and projects related to the department.

Responsibilities
Assist with the creation and upkeep of BrightSource’s database of contacts.
Updating company intranet with events and calendar items.
Assist with internal Corporate Communications calendar to ensure that all schedules for executive management and events are maintained on the calendar.
Occasional opportunity to write articles for the company newsletter.
Research upcoming conferences that may be of interest to BrightSource and maintain the grid to track these conferences. Gather information on these conferences to be distributed to attendees.
Assist with research and creation of the daily media report that is sent to the Communications team – highlights of industry specific current news items.
Organize and create a system for promotional photos, including tagging photos for company use.
Research and locate awards that BrightSource may be eligible to receive. Assist with submissions.
Respond and research media inquiries prior to a return call from staff.
Assist with set-up of internal meetings, including administrative duties and project trackers.
Ordering and organizing physical marketing materials.
Assisting with social media activities.
Administrative functions as needed, including preparing purchase requisitions, expense reports, and other duties as assigned.

Minimal travel to locations as required
May support other executives as needed.
Performs other duties as may be determined from time to time.
Qualifications
Proficient with the 2007 Microsoft Office Suite
Experience or course work in Corporate Communications
Social media experience
Proficient spoken and written English
Punctual, meticulous, reliable, and trustworthy
