Description
The Yale Project on Climate Change Communication invites applications for a full-time Survey Research Lab Manager to contribute to our ongoing research on public climate change and environmental knowledge, risk perceptions, policy preferences, and behavior. The program involves survey research (including national, international, and globally representative surveys, community and membership organization surveys, etc.), message experiments, and audience segmentation. The program also includes several national and international outreach projects to engage the public and policymakers.
The Yale Project on Climate Change Communication (YPCCC) is a program of the School of Forestry & Environmental Studies (F&ES) at Yale University. Founded in 1901, F&ES offers master’s and doctoral degrees and serves as a locus for research into local, regional and global environmental issues. Candidates are expected to work in our offices on Yale’s campus. Start date is as early as April 1, 2012.
Responsibilities
*Coordinate and manage diverse survey and experimental research projects, including research design, questionnaire development, and analysis, working with a multi-institutional team of researchers;
*Author public reports and peer-reviewed publications;
*Construct and maintain large datasets, including codebooks;
*Maintain an online library of research reports and articles;
*Assist with grant proposals;
*Disseminate research findings through briefings, presentations, and social media.
Qualifications
*Proficiency and experience in survey and experimental research;
*Proficiency in data management and analysis using SPSS, SAS, R, Excel, GIS and/or other applications;
*Excellent project management skills, including managing multiple projects, objectives, and deadlines;
*Ability to think strategically about research issues and projects;
*Ability to work as part of a team;
*Ability to communicate survey methods and findings to non-technical audiences;
*Excellent writing and presentation skills.
Required Education:
Masters or PhD in a relevant field or discipline, such as survey research, risk perception, communication (climate change, science, environment, public health, and/or political communication), behavior change, psychology, political science, sociology, or geography.
Preferred:
Experience with qualitative methods and environmental issues are preferred, but not required.
