Organization Overview
The International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) is a non-profit organization working on policies to reduce conventional pollutant and greenhouse gas emissions from the transportation sector.
Description
The project is focused on reviewing the state of advanced biofuel technologies. Particular emphasis will be placed on looking at technologies that will open up opportunities to source biofuel feedstocks from wastes and residues (e.g. corn stover, forestry residues, etc.). The intern will investigate production issues relating to these biofuels, especially surrounding current technological status, conversion technologies, challenges to adoption and production costs and potential.
Responsibilities
- Directed desk based research, including literature review;
- Technical analysis;
- Contacting industry experts and innovative companies directly;
- Proofing and fact checking.
Qualifications
- Progress towards an undergraduate degree in a technical discipline, such as environmental or chemical engineering or similar, or evidence of very strong performance in degree studies to date. Preference will be given to students with or working towards postgraduate qualifications;
- Excellent writing, quantitative and analytical skills;
- Candidates should be able to show initiative and resourcefulness, and be able to self-start to complete defined tasks;
- Good understanding of and keen interest in environmental issues;
- Familiarity with issues relating to biofuel production would be helpful.
