Organization Overview

Knowledge Quest is a private non-profit organization located in the heart of historic South Memphis.
Our mission is to vigorously equip youth to maximize their potential through intellectual and character development. Green Leaf Learning Farm is our newest program, in which urban agriculture serves as a tool for student education, food access and community development. The Farm is in the final stages of receiving USDA organic certification.

Description

Knowledge Quest seeks to hire a Learning Facilitator to oversee the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of Green Leaf’s student education component. (S)he will work closely with the Program Coordinator to achieve specific health-related outcomes.

Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Collaboration in planning with Program Coordinator for instruction and assessment in the areas ecology, urban
agriculture, food systems, environment and nutrition.
• Assist the Program Coordinator in the administration of evaluation tools to students as needed
• Development of curriculum handbooks for Green Leaf curricula
• Attend meetings, workshops and trainings as required
• Support the monitoring and supervision of program participants by maintaining order and ensuring safety

Qualifications

A combination of education (bachelor’s degree) and experience (two years) working with at-risk youth and/or environmental education is required. A bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, education, enviromental studies, agriculture or a related field is desired. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required and reasonable knowledge in the use of computer database systems is desired.

• Capable of thinking both strategically and putting together detailed operating plans to turn good ideas into
well-executed activities
• Knowledge of community resources available for youth
• Ability to understand and empathize with the needs and concerns of others; ability to establish rapport with
youth
• An understanding of dynamics associated with inner-city culture, economics, and social systems
• Willingness to work daily within classrooms, observing students, assessing and developing individual plans
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
