Description

Oregon Environmental Council is seeking a Sustainable Agriculture Policy Research Intern to provide research and analysis to inform sustainable agriculture policy recommendations and advocacy in Oregon. Our Sustainable Agriculture Policy Research Intern will provide research and analysis on:

1) The economic implications of new funding mechanisms to support community-based, voluntary initiatives to protect water quality in agricultural areas;

2) Model programs and funding mechanisms from elsewhere for consideration in Oregon; and

3) Synthesizing existing geographic natural resource and environmental priorities through GIS to represent possible focus areas to strategically focus resources and funding.

Qualifications

• Excellent research, data collection and writing skills
• Background in either economic analysis, environmental sciences, or natural resource planning preferred
• Self-motivated • Ability to set goals and accomplish tasks on time
• Experience conducting economic and environmental policy analysis
• Standard office software proficiency

Strong written and verbal communication skills, an attention to detail, an aptitude for logical thinking and sound judgment, a commitment to professional ethics, and the ability to work with sensitive and confidential information.
