SWEEP promotes greater RSS energy efficiency in a six-state region that includes Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming — a high-growth region that is making great strides in advancing energy efficiency since 2002. Description

The Southwest Energy Efficiency Project (SWEEP) is seeking an individual to serve as its Nevada representative preferably in Reno/Carson City but possibly based in the Las Vegas area.

Responsibilities

Strategy and policy development;

  •  Outreach, coalition building, and advocacy related to state energy policy;
  •  Interaction with utilities, regulators, and other stakeholders to support and expand utility energy efficiency programs in Nevada;
  •  Interaction with state policymakers and the private sector to support energy-efficient building construction and retrofit as well as more efficient transportation in Nevada;
  •  Interaction and coordination with other clean energy advocates, state and local governments, the press and general public.
  • The Nevada representative will work closely with other SWEEP staff in developing policy positions and in preparing materials for use in these efforts

Qualifications

Applicants should have at least five years of experience working on energy efficiency issues, policies or programs. Applicants should also have strong analytical and communications skills, ability to work independently, and a track record of “making a difference.” Experience working on legislative campaigns or on public utility policy/programs is a plus, as is experience working in Nevada.
