Description

The Forest Botanical Garden Aide, under direct supervision, assists the Foreman of Gardeners or members of the Horticulture staff in the maintenance, planting, and care of the Forest, plant collections, and grounds. He/she performs as directed, mowing, pruning, potting, planting, spraying, watering, etc. in the Forest, plant collections and around the grounds as required. He/she performs general maintenance work such as unpacking of plants and materials, light moving, and etc. The Forest Botanical Garden Aide operates machinery as called for in the performance of the above duties such as mowers, sprayers, pruners, etc. and performs general gardening duties requiring the use of hand tools such as shovels, shears, etc., and performs minor repairs requiring minimal skills to small equipment such as shears, sprinklers, etc.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED.
• A minimum of 6 months of experience in assisting with gardening, landscaping or ecological restoration work, or some knowledge of gardening, landscaping, or ecological restoration.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.
• Flexibility to work different schedules including Saturdays and Sundays and overtime required.
• Written exam and interviews will be announced after application deadline.
