Overview:
The purpose of the Associate Water Resources Specialist position is to protect and promote the Santa Clara Valley Water District’s interests in its imported water supplies and to minimize imported water costs consistent with Board policy.
Responsibilities
Duties include but are not limited to providing oversight of imported water financial issues including State and federal project cost allocation, budget and cost control, accounting and rate-setting, and economic issues; evaluate and develop appropriate recommendations to address current and proposed policies, regulations, projects and programs that impact the District financially; represent the District in technical and policy development meetings, committees, and boards; coordinate and participate in the development, negotiation, and administration of contracts, letters of agreements, and cooperative agreements with other agencies, with an emphasis on financial issues and their relationship to water deliveries and cost allocation. Some work may be conducted from the District’s Sacramento office.
Qualifications
Experience: Four years of professional water resources management experience. OR Two years of experience as an Assistant Water Resources Specialist II with the Santa Clara Valley Water District.
Training: Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in physical science, engineering or other directly related field (such as business administration, economics, accounting, or public administration).
License or Certificate: Some positions may require State of California registration as a Professional Civil Engineer or Professional Geologist. This position does not require registration.
Special Requirement: Experience in financial analysis, economics, business and accounting is desirable. Possession of a valid California driver’s license is required. Individuals who do not meet the driver’s license requirement due to a disability will be considered for a reasonable accommodation on a case-by-case basis. Selected candidate will be required to successfully pass a medical examination.
