Impacts of Tropical Storms Irene and Lee on the Hudson River
Last Year, two significant tropical storms dropped an estimated 12-18 inches of rainfall and disrupted many lives in the Hudson Valley, Catskills and beyond. This conference will explore the ecological impacts these two storms had on the Hudson River.
On September 19th, 2012 the Hudson River Environmental Society, the Hudson River Foundation, and the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies will be presenting the impacts on the Hudson River estuary and watershed by Tropical Storms Irene and Lee. The conference will include an invited speaker session followed by a contributed poster session and reception. Topics include:
*Atmospheric and storm surge analyses
*Sediment Transport
*Impacts to the aquatic biota and ecosystem metabolism
*Impacts to aquatic habitat in the watershed
Further information and the agenda for the conference is posted at http://www.hres.org/
Registration and Request for Poster Abstracts will be posted in August at www.hres.org/ and by subsequent emails.
