Description

Impact Carbon is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Manager to create documentation and manage the approval process of carbon emissions reduction projects focused on household products such as efficient cookstoves, water treatment devices, solar lights, and building insulation.

The position requires strong organizational, writing, and research experience, as well as a strong technical background, excellent analytical skills, and practical business thinking. The ideal candidate will also have experience in designing and managing carbon offset projects including the drafting of Project Design Documents (PDDs), technical project design, and guiding projects through validation, verification, registration, and issuance. A track record of registered Clean Development Mechanism and/or Gold Standard or VCS projects is a plus.

The Project Manager will be responsible for managing the execution of all aspects of project development from diligence to verification on multiple projects in multiple countries. The position is based in San Francisco and will require approximately 20% travel.

Responsibilities

  • Manage internal resources to finalize and execute all phases of the project development cycle.
  • Research and write project documentation including monitoring plans, Project Design Documents (PDDs), and monitoring reports.
  • Coordinate field surveys and new product testing.
  • Analyze and interpret data from quantitative and qualitative studies.
  • Support due diligence and new project origination on projects worldwide.
  • Maintain financial models for both internal and client purposes.
  • Develop excellent partner and investor relationships.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports and new methodologies.

Qualifications

  • Strong organizational, research, and writing experience in previous employment. Advanced degree in business, engineering, environmental, or energy sciences preferred.
  • Understanding of scientific research design and statistics, and quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Project management experience with one to three years of management experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and interest in climate change policy and carbon markets.
  • Experience assessing project risk and creating financial models.
  • Ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience in designing, managing, and/or auditing carbon offset projects.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English required; other languages a plus.
