Organization Overview
Teatown Lake Reservation, a non-profit environmental center in Westchester County, NY. Teatown’s focal area is the Hudson Hills and Highlands, the bioregion that encompasses northern Westchester and Putnam Counties. In this region Teatown provides training and support to civic leaders, conducts scientific research on issues of local importance, and develops land management protocols to protect biodiversity.
Description
Teatown is looking for a conservation scientist to assist with its regional programs. This is a newly created position with potential for growth.
Qualifications
The successful candidate with have experience with: natural resource inventories and ecological/wildlife monitoring; the preparation of land management plans; conducting outreach to a variety of stakeholders (primarily adults); data collection, analysis and management; and GIS. Strong written and oral communication skills are required; specifically the presentation of technical information to general audiences. Familiarity with NY environmental groups/organizations and a Master’s degree are strongly preferred (B.S. required).
