Description
There are three student internships available at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s (NREL’s) Strategic Energy Analysis Center (SEAC). NREL is the nation’s primary laboratory for research, development and deployment of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies.The interns will come to NREL during the summer of 2013 and collaborate on research addressing global energy and energy data challenges.
Responsibilities
The candidate will be allowed significant freedom in defining their research problem.the candidate’s goals for the internship should be ambitious and include all of the following:
-Develop a useful software or analysis tool,
-Address a global challenge and
-Publish at least one paper at a top conference or journal.
The candidate should have enough confidence to try to change the world. The intern will be expected to collaborate with a group of 3-5 other interns and NREL researchers.
Qualifications
Must be enrolled as a full-time student.
Graduate students enrolled in a minimum of nine credit hours.
Undergraduate students enrolled in a minimum of twelve credit hours.
Minimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.
Candidate should have world-class skills in one or more of the following areas: Computer Science, Economics, Finance, Power Systems, Statistics, Big Data, Informatics or Systems Science. The ideal candidate would be interested in problems or solutions that are: Large Scale, Real Time, Smart, Sustainable, Optimized, Social, Semantic, Distributed or Reliable.
