As the largest non-profit organization supporting citizen science, Earthwatch has over 40 years sponsored over 1000 field research projects in 55 countries across the globe. Earthwatch expeditions and field research centers link volunteers, corporate employees, teachers, and students with international scientists working to conserve habitats, species, and cultures. Earthwatch has partnered with corporations globally for over 20 years to mobilize the resources necessary for a sustainable environment. We work towards this goal by developing innovative engagement and learning programs that immerse company employees in environmental issues within the context of their business alongside hands-on field research. Through a partnership with Earthwatch, corporations seek to develop environmental leaders within their companies, who will make decisions and take actions that will both drive their business forward and drive environmental sustainability. Corporate Sustainability Intern will assist the Americas Program Team in a variety of tasks relating to programs that aim to engage and inspire confident ambassadors who are passionate about supporting sustainability within their organization and their community.

Description

We are recruiting interns for the following initiatives:

Conduct research to support ongoing corporate partnerships.

Analyze potential research partners whose research and interests provide a fitting platform for corporate sustainability.

Review and process Corporate Participants reports and evaluations.

Assess the impacts of field-based research projects on corporate partners and their stakeholders and create case studies to further the mission and communication to our corporate partners.

Assist Earthwatch staff in the field for local scientist for a day initiatives on water quality and urban forests.

Qualifications

Basic understanding of sustainability and an interest in sustainable business. Demonstrated flexibility, initiative, resourcefulness, and collaboration. Strong ability to multitask, handle details and to maintain organization. Ability to maintain confidentiality and abide by the data protection guidelines. Strong oral and written communication skills. Fluency in any foreign language is a plus. Must be proficient in Microsoft applications, especially Microsoft Excel.

Earthwatch interns can take part in the Intern Credit Program in which they receive credits to use towards a qualified Earthwatch expedition and are invited to participate in all Earthwatch activities. An intern must work the full minimal 120 hours committed to be eligible to use any of their credits. This position is based in our Boston office at 114 Western Avenue, Boston, MA 02134.

Due to the size of the program and limited time and financial resources, we are only able to accept interns with a confirmed place to stay within commuting distance of the office in Boston. Applicants must currently be eligible to work in the United States. We do not have the capacity to secure a visa for international interns. We are more than happy to provide letters of acceptance to support the intern’s application for a visa, but we cannot provide advice, expertise, or staff time to assist further with this matter.
