Environmental Advocates of New York seeks a Public Policy Intern.
Environmental Advocates of New York’s mission is to protect our air, land, water, and wildlife and the health of all New Yorkers. Based in Albany, we monitor state government, evaluate proposed laws, and champion policies and practices that will ensure the responsible stewardship of our shared environment. We work to support and strengthen the efforts of New York’s environmental community and to make our state a national leader.
Description
The intern will learn about state regulatory and legislative processes and be exposed to a range of current environmental issues. He or she will perform a variety of substantive assignments, including research, writing, lobbying, coalition building, and outreach.
We will work with the intern to design an appropriate project, based on the intern’s interest areas and skills, Environmental Advocates’ needs at the time, and the availability of program staff to provide adequate supervision. Environmental Advocates’ current issue areas include air and energy, water and natural resources, fiscal policy, and other environmental and public health issues.
Qualifications
Good research, writing, and communications skills; interest in environmental protection and learning about state legislative and regulatory processes; enthusiasm; and willingness to tackle new projects.
