Description

The Nature Conservancy’s Latin America Region is seeking an Executive /Communications Assistant to provide operational and administrative support to the Regional Managing Director and Regional Chief of Staff, with an emphasis on communications. The position will help both regional leaders manage and communicate a high-return strategic agenda for the Conservancy’s conservation work in Latin America. S/he will work frequently with senior staff throughout the organization and with volunteer leaders and other prominent supporters outside of the Conservancy. Her/his main objectives are to organize and optimize the Regional Managing Director and Chief of Staff’s day-to-day and travel time and to assist with the implementation of key initiatives in the Region, particularly management of the Latin America Conservation Council (LACC) and associated communications, meetings and follow up.

Tasks include: preparing written and presentation materials, in particular briefing materials for all meetings, trips and calls; scheduling and organizing meetings and conference calls; and arranging and planning an extensive travel schedule. He/she also plays a key role on reporting processes, meeting internal deadlines and ensuring follow-up to agreements made during meetings and calls. S/he will also provide operational support on HRand marketing related tasks, as needed. Duties are highly confidential and the candidate chosen will need to acquire strong knowledge of TNC’s programs, policies, procedures and operations. The candidate chosen must also be a good communicator and team player, who can be firm but diplomatic and polite in representing the Regional Director and Chief of Staff’s requirements to other staff and programs. S/he needs to be fluent in English as well as Spanish or Portuguese, both spoken and written.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree plus at least 5 years related work experience; previous experience working in Latin America communications field required.
  • Experience managing and coordinating the schedule and contacts of senior staff.
  • Experience working with a wide range of people, such as board of directors, top donors and clients, and all levels of staff.
  • Experience in meeting planning, including associated logistics and budgeting.
  • Experience with MS Office, including use of Internet and Intranet.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish or Portuguese required.
