Beaver Restoration Intern
WildEarth Guardians is working to advance beaver restoration and protection on national forests and other public lands in the American West as a means to enhance riparian/wetland ecosystem resilience across the American West. Beaver restoration, always important on its ecological merit, has increasing hydrologic urgency in light of climate change. We’re seeking a Beaver Restoration Intern to assist our Wild Places Program Director with research, outreach and marketing in support of efforts to engage and educate the public and build a support foundation to restore the species across the West. Responsibilities could include managing field data collection, attending local and state meetings on behalf of the organization, developing marketing and communication tools and securing a media presence. Outstanding research and written skills, and a willingness to engage the public via outreach is required. This position is 2-3 months, full or part-time, preferred candidate will work in Santa Fe, however remote candidates also considered. This is an unpaid internship position.
Communications Intern
Assist WildEarth Guardians’ Associate Director and Communications Director with various communication aspects of our organization. Work could include executing electronic and print communications including action alert emails, updates, newsletters and funding requests. Managing organizations social media to include Facebook, Twitter, Causes, Care2 and others. Website maintenance and updates including creating new pages and performing HTML updates. Timely program and administration support including strategizing as necessary. Membership support and feedback. Monitor and analyze metrics like alert performance, activist growth, conversions, membership, reporting, provide feedback, strategies, social media performance. Manage outside contractors including website maintenance/interface, graphics designer, and search engine optimization support. Interface with advocacy/fundraising software provider as needed. Manage Google Adwords. Virtual opportunity though prefer in Santa Fe, New Mexico. This position is 6-9 months, full or part-time. The first three months is an unpaid internship position, followed by a three month paid stipend.
Legal Intern
Law student to assist our staff attorneys with case development and/or litigation to protect endangered species, reform public land and water policy, and curb destructive energy practices. Interns can expect to assist WildEarth Guardians with various aspects of federal challenges grounded in the ESA, NEPA, CAA, NFMA, FLPMA, APA, CWA, and other regulatory schemes. Prerequisites include foundational coursework in environmental, federal public lands, and administrative law; excellent legal research and writing skills; and a demonstrated commitment to, or interest in, public interest legal practice. WildEarth Guardians has offices in Santa Fe, Denver, Phoenix, and Boulder. Opportunities in Santa Fe or Denver and in special circumstances elsewhere. WildEarth Guardians requires interns to work a minimum of 30 hours per week during the summer months. This is an unpaid internship position, but possibility for externship credit.
Non-profit Administration Intern
Assist the WildEarth Guardians Associate Director with administration of our organization. Work could include development, membership management, budget and finance, communications, information technology, and event planning. Attend local music festivals and other events to reach out to the community. Learn project management skills, social entrepreneurship, lead outings, and try your hand at a variety of tasks. Learn hands-on how to run a non-profit organization and have fun doing it. Prerequisites include planning and execution skills, task oriented, foresees risks and plans contingencies, works well with others, can manage without authority, ability to manage volunteers, familiar with Access database a plus. Opportunity in Santa Fe, New Mexico. This position is 2-3 months, full or part-time. This is an unpaid internship position.
