Organization Overview:
In 1970, a small group of concerned citizens started gathering on Saturday mornings to discuss the future of Southern California’s air quality and the overall state of the environment. From those meetings, the Coalition for Clean Air (CCA) wasa born. Today, CCA is a statewide nonprofit organization – with offices in Los Angeles, Sacramentor, and Fresno – advocating for air quality throughout California. The Coalition for CLean Air is dedicated to restoring clean, healthy air to California by advocating for effective public policy and practical business solutions.
Description:
The Coalition for Clean Air offers unpaid internships for undergraduate or graduate students pursuing careers focused on environmental protection.
Responsibilities:
- Conducting policy research and analysis
- Assisting in the monitoring of selected legislative and regulatory proposals
- Advocating policies to protect public health at local venues, as needed
- Collecting and analyzing data
Qualifications:
- Must be a current or recent undergraduate or graduate student
- Preferred focus of study is public policy, environmental science, public health, political science or related field
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Must be detail-oriented and able to handle multiple assignments
- Strong organizational and computer skills
- Good interpersonal skills, with ability to work both independently and with significant supervision, as necessary
- Demonstrated abilities to take initiative and to work in a team environment
- Experience working on California’s environmental issues is a plus
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus
- Commitment to the mission of the Coalition for Clean Air
