Description:
The Apprentice Clean Water Advocate works with staff and volunteers to protect Illinois rivers, lakes, and streams from pollution and invasive species
Responsibilities:
-Working with partner organizations to advocate for measures to stop Asian Carp and other aquatic invaders from moving between the Great Lakes and the Illinois/Mississippi River watersheds
-Assisting Sierra Club volunteers with water quality monitoring projects
-Advocating for actions by state and local governments to clean up sources of water pollution
-Administrative support in the Chapter office as needed
Qualifications:
Apprentice positions are intended for individuals who within the last 12 months have graduated from a four year degree (BA, B.S.) or a graduate level program. Qualified applicants will have strong written and oral communication skills, the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of organizations and volunteers, and proficient computer skills, in addition to education/experience relevant to each position.
