Position Title: Sustainability Intern

Location: Woodstock, NY

Hours & Compensation: Part-time (up to 25 hours/week). Unpaid. Applicants with some interest in KTD’s mission can apply for room and board, which would require some additional chores.

Organization Overview:

Karma Triyana Dharmachakra is a Kagyu Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Woodstock, NY which functions as a center for events and as a nonprofit representing the head of the lineage. In accordance with its mission to help being, the physical structures were built with sustainability in mind and designated the location a “Green Monastery”. Environmental sustainability of these facilities has not been assessed since construction, however.

Description:

A former student of Bard CEP is looking to perform a formal report of potential measures to decrease the environmental impact of operations. Included in this information would be cost-effective sources of local, organic food, cost-benefit analyses for energy-saving measures, as well as calculations of energy, heating, and water savings for changes in behaviors.  The intern could build on momentum and spearhead the research areas of his or her choosing.
