Position Title: Intern/Part-Time Organizer

Location: Ann Arbor, MI

Hours & Compensation: 24 hrs/wk; $75/day. The hours for the work are from 2pm to 10:30pm, Monday through Friday, or at least 3 days a week between Monday and Friday. Pay for full time is $375-500 per week. We are hiring for part-time student positions for the summer or long term work. Organization Overview:

Help Clean Water Action on a campaign to promote renewable energy and to end coal plant pollution in Michigan. Michigan still gets the majority of our energy from coal-burning plants, which are major producers of lead, mercury and arsenic pollution. We are fighting for a stronger renewable energy standard in the state, which will stimulate job growth, reduce pollution, and cut energy costs for people across the state. Join the fight today!

Clean Water Action is an organization with over 200,000 members in Michigan working to empower people to take action to protect America’s waters, build healthy communities and to make democracy work for all of us. For 40 years Clean Water Action has succeeded in winning some of the nation’s most important environmental protections through grassroots organizing, expert policy research and political advocacy focused on holding elected officials accountable to the public.

Responsibilities:

  • Identifying voters and volunteers who will work with us to hold politicians accountable for their votes on environmental and health related issues
  • Ensuring, by grassroots organizing, that communities are made aware of these issues
  • Plan and participate in press conferences, lobby days, and other events.

Qualifications:

We look for candidates who have strong oral and written communication skills, and who possess good attention to detail. Candidates should have an interest in working to protect our environment. We do provide extensive training on the job responsibilities and on the issues we cover.
