Organization Overview

The Sierra Club Missouri Chapter is part of the National Sierra Club.

Our purpose is “to explore, enjoy and protect the wild places of the Earth; to practice and promote the responsible use of the Earth’s ecosystems and resources; to educate and enlist humanity to protect and restore the quality ofthe natural and human environment; and to use all lawful means to carry out these objectives.”

Decisions about the actions of our chapter are made by an elected volunteer Executive Committee. All Sierra Club members in the state of Missouri are invited to run for the Executive Committee and to vote in the election.

Description

Would you like to play a lead role driving environmental change in Missouri? Sierra Club’s MO Chapter is searching for a Conservation Program Coordinator. Working with the Chapter’s staff and volunteer leaders, you’ll be asked to help develop and implement the Chapter’s core conservation work. A background in organizing and an understanding of environmental issues (energy efficiency, renewable energy, and fighting to close dirty coal plants) will help you hit the ground running. Recruiting and training new volunteer leaders will also be a primary focus, as will public speaking to community, business, and governmental leaders. Comfort with these roles is essential.

Qualifications

4-year degree, Environmental Studies, Political Science
