Description
Grist, the nation’s leading green news site, is seeking a smart, detail-focused, HTML-savvy individual to join our editorial team for a full-time internship located in our downtown Seattle office. The internship offers a great opportunity to learn about journalism, editing, online publishing, and environmental issues, and to gain experience working with a close-knit, dedicated, fun staff.
Responsibilities
The primary purpose of this role is to learn about and support the Editorial operations at Grist. As an Intern, you will help us polish and publish content on the Grist website through HTML coding of articles, transcribing interviews, tracking environmental news, researching environmental topics, and assisting other members of the team with a variety of projects. Writing opportunities may arise occasionally as time and interests permit.
Qualifications
Experience working in an editorial capacity
Proficiency with HTML
Obsessive attention to detail
Solid knowledge of grammar
Strong proofreading ability
Facility with internet research
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Well-developed organizational and time-management skills
Ability to learn new technologies quickly
Ability to multitask and thrive under deadlines
Interest in environmental issues

News-junkie tendencies
In-depth knowledge of environmental issues
Experience with blogs, RSS feeds, Twitter, and other social-networking tools
Familiarity with AP style
A quick wit
