Location: Seattle, WA
Hours and Compensation: unpaid internship
Application Deadline: December 8, 2013
Organization Overview
Forterra’s mission is to act with immediacy to protect, enhance and steward our region’s most precious resources–its communities and its landscapes. Filling a unique niche as the largest conservation and community building organization in Washington State, we are working to build the foundations for our sustainable environmental and economic futures in the face of a rapidly growing population. For over 20 years, Forterra has successfully led efforts to conserve nearly 234,000 acres of forests, farms, shorelines, parks and natural areas and restore critical landscapes.
Description
The primary focus of this internship will be to update the Central Puget Sound Protected Lands Database (CPS-PLDB) new boundary and attribute data representing partner acquisitions through calendar year 2013 based on information collected from our many conservation partners as well as that published in other public agency datasets. The internship will begin with collection of the latest version of fundamental public datasets from various state and local agencies to update our spatial data library. If time permits, the intern will update and publish county-scale results on a hard-copy poster to support conservation planning at Forterra and among our many partners in The Cascade Agenda.
