Internship Description:
FIAN is currently looking for an intern with English and/or French as native language to assist in the development of the 2014 edition of the annual publication Right to Food and Nutrition Watch (hereinafter the Watch) and support FIAN’s communication work. The intern will work full-time (approx. 30-40 hours/week) and be based at the International Secretariat’s office in Heidelberg, Germany. The internship period is from 1 April to 31 October 2014. Unfortunately, FIAN International is not in the position to provide financial compensation for interns.
Duties and responsibilities
Under supervision of the Watch Coordinator and the Coordinator for Communication/Organizational Development, the intern will fulfill the following tasks:
- Assist in editing and proofreading articles of the Watch2014 (in English, French and/or Spanish)
- Conduct research and check facts and sources included in all articles
- Assist in the implementation of a dissemination and media strategy for the Watch 2014, including in the organization of launching activities with partners at the international level, and drafting of press releases, newsletters and other documents
- Provide support to the communications and other areas of work of FIAN’s International Secretariat, including in the organization of public events and meetings with partners, and drafting, editing and proofreading of press releases and other documents
- Fulfill other research and communication tasks as required
Profile and requirements
- Students or recent graduates in Human Rights, International Relations, Political Science, or another relevant field
- Strong interest and previous experience in the human rights field
- Excellent editing, drafting and research skills
- Previous experience in editing, proofreading and communication work is an asset
- English and/or French as native language are required
- Good knowledge of Spanish is an asset
- Attention to detail
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and work under tight deadlines
- Motivation and positive work attitude
