Description
NRDC seeks a Program Assistant to work in its Washington, D.C. office located at 1152 15th Street, NW, Suite 300. The Program Assistant will provide administrative support in the International program for its climate policy and Canada projects. The successful candidate must have good communication and problem solving skills and be able to handle administrative tasks such as: management of budgets, contracts and processing expenses, formatting and proofreading documents, photocopying, coordinating and booking travel, scheduling meetings, coordinating meetings and events, and researching and preparing materials.
Responsibilities
(Administrative)
- Coordinates staff schedules and sets up meetings
- Coordinates and books travel
- Processes and tracks invoices, contracts, grants, and budgets
- Coordinates with finance, development, IT and other support departments to ensure smooth running of program work
- Copies, scans and distributes documents
- Proofreads and edits correspondence and various documents including fact sheets and fundraising reports and proposals
- Researches and writes background information for projects
- Support Program Director who overseas entire International program
(Canada)
- Assists with media and other communication outreach and maintains press database
- Takes notes at meetings for team
- Helps plan logistics for special events
- Provides research support for corporate, technical, legal and other projects around tar sands issues as well as other Canada project priorities including clean energy opportunities
- Maintains and updates Congressional and Administrative contact database
- Helps provide outreach to policy makers
(Supporting International Program Director, Climate Policy, and Global Strategy)
- Supports Program Director in a range of needs including scheduling, logistical planning, event support, notetaking
- Takes notes at meetings for team
- Helps plan logistics for special events
- Provides research support on international climate change and other global issues.
- Supports development of blogs, fact sheets, issue papers, and other written material
- Helps provide outreach to policy makers
- Blogs on international climate policy issues and topics
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s required
- Previous administrative experience a plus
- Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Must have strong interpersonal skills and be detail oriented
- Must have a demonstrated interest in environmental issues
- Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks
- Must have the ability to work well under pressure
- Must possess a high degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook, Microsoft Access a plus
