Location: Internships are available in both of the ICCT’s Washington D.C. and San Francisco, CA offices.
Hours and Compensation: Full-time; Competitive monthly stipends are provided.

Description: The International Council on Clean Transportation’s Internship Program provides students and recent graduates with the opportunity to learn from leading transportation and environmental policy experts. Interns will enjoy working on a variety of projects across the organization’s programs directly relating to environmental and transportation policy issues globally, and gain exposure to regulatory processes around the world.
The International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) is a $9 million, 35 staff, independent nonprofit organization founded to provide first-rate, unbiased research, technical and scientific analysis to environmental and transportation regulators. Our mission is to improve the environmental performance and energy efficiency of on-road, marine, and air transportation, in order to benefit public health and mitigate climate change.
- We evaluate technologies’ potential to reduce emissions and the associated costs to lay the technical groundwork for future regulations
- Identify policy best practices and disseminate them through reports, workshops, and briefings for policymakers
III. Provide direct technical assistance to government agencies and international organizations in the drafting of regulatory documents as well as data collection and analysis
- Foster communications and collaboration among policymakers, industry and other stakeholders through meetings and collaborative projects.
Projects are available throughout 2015 in our Passenger Vehicles, Heavy-Duty Vehicles, Aviation, Marine, Clean Air, Fuels, and Global Roadmap programs, to name a few. Please see the “Programs” section of our website for more information on each of our programs.
Qualifications: We are looking for motivated self-starters with a keen interest in transportation, climate change and air quality. Qualified applicants should be pursing related degrees in science, engineering, environment, public health and public policy. Proficiency in Word, Excel, database analysis, or statistical software is strongly preferred. Strong English skills are required and other language fluencies are a big plus.
