Description: The University of the South, popularly known as Sewanee, seeks a University Farm Manager to fill a key role in supporting the continued development of a college farm, where students are able to participate physically and intellectually. The University Farm Manager will also enhance student learning through demonstration and presentation of agroecological concepts and a wide range of organic food production/consumption skills with an emphasis on integration with the academic program.

Responsibilities: The University Farm Manager shall create a welcoming atmosphere for student participation, keep accurate records, cultivate community partners and supporters, provide material and logistical support regarding University farming endeavors.  The focus of the farm operation includes: student organic garden and orchard and possible production scale fruits and vegetables for dining services; animal husbandry for educational farm operation and possible food production.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree (preferred) and a minimum of five years’ experience in small scale farm production and/or farming with an educational component.  Candidate must possess leadership skills and be able to work with a broad spectrum of individuals.  Salary and benefits will be commensurate with qualifications.
