Description: The Policy Associate will assist members of the Policy team in advancing all of MEEAs policy activities at the local, state and regional levels. The Policy Associate’s work will support and advance mandated and voluntary energy efficiency policies at the state level. This will be accomplished through various research, coordination, and administrative tasks. The Policy Associate will support the Policy Team, but also be responsible for coordination with other areas of MEEA, including Membership, Marketing, and Programs. Developing and maintaining relationships – both internally and externally – that advance the work of the Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance will be a requirement of the position. The Policy Associate will report to MEEA’s Senior Policy Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide logistical and administrative support to MEEA’s Policy Team
    · Research and analyze state energy efficiency policies and assist in the preparation of reports for funders and members
    · Develop fact sheets, case studies, newsletter, blog postings, and other advocacy materials
    · Assist in management of MEEA’s policy advocacy through coalition-building with all stakeholders
    · Coordinate educational and outreach activities to increase awareness and understanding of energy efficiency, including webinars, calls, and conferences
    · Use social media to promote the department’s activities

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will be expected to have the following qualifications:
· B.A. or B.S. in: public policy, political science, or a related field
· Advanced degree in relevant field, preferred
· Minimum 2 years experience in public policy required, with knowledge of the energy industry preferred
· History of strong project management experience with proven success with meeting deadlines and the ability of adapt to shifting priorities
· Strong facilitation and coalition building skills among diverse stakeholders
· Strong oral and written presentation skills
· Able to working as a member of a team in a small-office environment
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office
· Passion for energy efficiency
