Description: Midwest Pesticide Action Center (MPAC) welcomes interns from all fields of study and backgrounds with an interest in our work. Applicants are considered throughout the year for internships typically starting in January, June, and September.
An internship at Midwest Pesticide Action Center is a challenging and rewarding educational experience for any undergraduate or graduate students interested in pursuing a career in public health, environmental health, public policy, environmental policy, natural sciences, and non-profit development and administration.
Responsibilities: The focus of the internship will be to work with staff to develop, plan and implement our programs.
Specific projects are assigned and designed to appeal to an intern’s interests and enhance his/her skills while advancing our mission.
Additional responsibilities may include:
Responding to requests for information on pesticides and Integrated Pest Management;
Assisting with maintaining and updating database and website;
Data entry of surveys and training information for MPAC programs;
Developing fact sheets, letters, and newsletter articles;
Assisting staff with development and program-related research, as needed; and,
Helping to organize workshops.
Qualifications: Successful applicants will have the following qualifications:
Interest in MPAC’s mission;
Excellent research, writing, and organizational skills;
Ability to take initiative and work independently and as part of a team;
Computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel;
Graduate students in public health, public policy or environmental studies preferred.
