Position Title: Project Associate

Location: Boston, Massachusetts

Description: The Project Associate will work on a varied portfolio of SeaPlan projects, which include supporting human use and/or marine resource characterization studies, marine policy analyses, stakeholder engagement efforts, and communications and outreach activities. Project topics span a broad range, including marine planning, climate preparedness, fisheries science, and human dimensions of the marine realm. The Project Associate will also support a variety of SeaPlan operations, including fundraising, communications and administration. Primary responsibilities will center on supporting project teams through research, preparing written and presentation materials, developing project financials, and assisting with stakeholder and project team meeting preparation and documentation; additional duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:

  • Project support, including research, analysis, deliverable drafting, and schedule/budget preparation
  • Assistance with researching, writing, and producing content for internal and external publications
  • Project and Process workflow development
  • Attend conferences/other events; prepare summaries of key
  • Organizational operations support, including fundraising research, database development and financial systems

Qualifications:

  • BS/BA in natural or social sciences, public policy, or related field
  • 1 year of relevant professional work experience
  • Demonstrated writing proficiencies (e.g. technical reports, academic, blogosphere)
  • Familiarity with issues and trends in coastal and marine policy, planning, regulation and management
  • Computer competencies; command of software applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation and database
  • Ability to organize/prioritize workload to meet demands in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills – written, verbal and interpersonal
  • Ability to work, communicate and interact effectively in a team setting

Qualifications:

  • Experience with natural resource management issues in a multi-stakeholder setting
  • Experience working with government agencies
  • Graphic design and presentation skills
  • Familiarity with GIS
  • SalesForce proficiency
