Position Title: Communications Coordinator

Location: There is flexibility for this position to be located in any of PASA’s three offices (Central, Eastern or Western region) with daily attendance and/or connection expected.

Dates and compensation: Full-time $30,000 – 50,000

Description: Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture (PASA) works to improve the economic viability, environmental soundness and social responsibility of food and farming systems in Pennsylvania and across the country. As the largest statewide, member-based sustainable farming organization in the United States (over 5,000 members), PASA conducts programs that include farmer-focused education, regional marketing and business support, consumer outreach, advocacy work and community building strategies. The successful candidate will be an important team player advancing this mission.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree required, BA/BS preferred in marketing, journalism, public relations or a related field.
  • Highly organized professional individual with ability to work independently and maintain consistent attention to detail.
  • Superior project management and time management skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must possess good problem solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, database systems and website management is expected
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of current trends in digital/social media.
  • Experience with HTML, Python programming languages and Plone Content Management System a plus.
  • Commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams.
  • Strong creative, strategic, analytical and sales skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in the design and execution of marketing, communications and public relations activities.

Responsibilities: This position is a full-time, salaried position with occasional evening and weekend work expected. The successful candidate will support PASA staff in various ways including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Responsible for creating and implementing a comprehensive communications program that will enhance the organization’s image and position within the marketplace and general public, and facilitation of both internal and external communications.
  • Management of PASA’s Good Food Neighborhood ® program of outreach to the general public, including establishing an informal membership option for consumers and anyone interested in supporting local food systems within our reach.
  • Coordinate appearance of all organization print and electronic materials such as letterhead, use of logo, brochures, etc.
  • Provide editorial direction, design, production and distribution of all organization publications.
  • Writing press releases and serving as the company liaison with media representatives.
  • Develop and distribute materials that explain or convey the company’s policies or position on issues; compile press kits.
  • Develop short and long-term plans and budgets for our communications program and its activities, monitor progress, assure adherence and evaluation performance.
  • Promote PASA’s visibility in the region through speaking engagements at events, meetings & area conferences.
  • Be an active and supportive team member of the PASA staff.
  • Other tasks as deemed necessary by supervisor and/or executive director.
