Campaign Director, Sierra Club – California or Washington, DC
Organization: Sierra Club
Position Title: “Keep Dirty Fuels in the Ground” Campaign Director
Location: San Francisco or Washington, D.C.
Application Deadline: Position open until filled
Description: Sierra Club is hiring a senior level Director to lead and grow our “Keep Dirty Fuels in the Ground” campaign. This important initiative is focused on reducing climate disruption and hastening a transition to a clean energy future by keeping the majority of America’s oil, gas, tar sands and other dirty fuels in the ground. We need a proven leader who can direct a team of eleven staff across different facets of the organization (e.g. communications and grassroots organizing) and work with our Advancement team to raise significant funds to expand the campaign.
To thrive in the role, applicants should be very comfortable leading effective teams, developing campaign strategy, fundraising, lobbying, using media, collaborating with volunteers and partner groups, and managing complex budgets. Significant experience with advocacy and grassroots engagement, as well as an in-depth understanding–and passion for–the conservation issues is important. Extensive travel will be required.
