Description: Sowing Empowerment & Economic Development, Inc. (SEED) provides food, clothing, education and training while promoting self-sufficiency and empowerment directly to low- to moderate-income families and communities. Through education, housing & community services, SEED will create environments where all individuals are empowered, all children are nurtured, families are strengthened, and communities are transformed.
SEED, located in Riverdale Maryland, operates a K-8 charter school, after school tutoring & technology program, food distribution center & clothes closet; provides workforce development training and is a HUD approved housing counseling agency. SEED offers internship opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students interested in pursuing careers in education, non-profit management and communications.
Nonprofit management: This intern position will assist in several aspects of nonprofit management including development, board governance, program evaluation and measurement and marketing. Interns will also conduct environmental assessments, comparative analysis and research related to major donors and corporate and community foundations. Intern will also assist with data-entry and performance measurement programming. Administrative duties as assigned. Excellent organizational and computer skills and a strong interest in learning about the nonprofit management field are essential to this internship.
