Position Title: Information Officer – Hudson River GIS Coordinator

Description: New England Interstate Water Pollution Control Commission (NEIWPCC) and the Hudson River Estuary Program are seeking a GIS Coordinator. This position would be located within the Division of Water at the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC) in the Albany office. The expected duration of this position is 12 months.
Responsibitlies: The GIS Coordinator will create, organize, manage, and ensure the quality of database products including metadata files. S/he will refine the system used to prioritize wastewater treatment infrastructure needs, incorporate new data sets, and develop processes to automate data updates. S/he will create and maintain GIS maps of sewer service areas and conduct spatial analysis to identify high priority projects. Position will also involve modeling the impact of Green Infrastructure practices on combined sewer and stormwater collection systems during wet weather events.
Position requires knowledge and use of MS Access, Excel, and ArcGIS. The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, geographic information systems, environmental engineering, or a related field. Some training or coursework on relational database design, SQL, GIS, and/or engineering preferred. Applicants should have at least six months of professional experience in developing relational databases and applications. Experience with the EPA Stormwater Management Model (SWMM) is a plus.
