Description: hird Way’s Clean Energy Program is seeking an analytical, creative, and high-energy individual to help our team promote federal policies that will decarbonize the energy sector. This person will contribute to projects managed by various members of our highly-collaborative team and also will have the opportunity to manage his or her own portfolio of work.

Responsibilities:

  • Research: The Clean Energy intern responds to daily research needs of team members, locating information to be used in reports, presentations, and conversations with policymakers and the press. This often requires the assistance of experts from academia, government, and industry.
  • Analysis: The Clean Energy intern contributes to basic data analysis that supports Third Way’s positions on a various energy policy proposals. These projects often require the use of government databases and other publicly-available information, as well as Microsoft Excel.
  • Writing: The Clean Energy Intern prepares drafts of memos, speeches, and op-eds with the guidance of team members and occasionally is asked to write products for publication under his or her own name.

Requirements:

  • Education: The Clean Energy intern must be pursuing an advanced degree with an emphasis in energy. Preference will be given to those with a background in quantitative studies such as economics or statistics.
  • Creative Problem-Solving Skills: The Clean Energy intern must have a demonstrated ability to come up with inventive ways to approach particularly sticky research and analysis challenges.
  • Writing Skills: The Clean Energy intern must be an impeccable writer with an ability to explain complex issues in a concise and engaging way.
