Position Title: International Policy Intern
Location: Washington, DC
Dates and compensation: Full time: 40 hours/week; flexible. Paid: $11/hour from April through August 1, 2015
Description: The Alliance to Save Energy is seeking an intern to work within the International Policy Program. The intern will work on a variety of international policy programs, but will focus heavily on supporting the implementation of the Global Alliance for Energy Productivity (GAEP). The GAEP is a new Alliance initiative with a mission to secure policymaker and corporate commitments to double energy productivity (economic output per unit of energy consumed) by 2030 in India, the European Union, China and other countries.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with communication between the GAEP Secretariat (the Alliance to Save Energy) and its Steering Committee, Technical Advisory Committee, Partners and Endorsers.
- Provide support in preparations and logistics for meetings with its U.S. and international partners.
- Work with Alliance Events and Marketing team to develop GAEP brochure and other materials.
- Research potential GAEP Partners and Endorsers in China, India and the European Union.
- Draft news articles and blogs for the Alliance website, in conjunction with Alliance Communications Department.
- Provide logistical and research support as needed for other Alliance international/policy programs.
Qualifications:
- Clear writing, proof reading and editing abilities
- Excellent oral communication skills
- Experience organizing meetings or planning events
- Interest in international energy and environmental issues
