Description: Ceres is soliciting applications for the position of Senior Manager, Policy Program. This position will preferably be located in Boston, MA, but we would consider Washington, D.C. as an alternative location given a deep understanding of Ceres mission and programs. This opening is designed for a highly motivated, self-starter looking to be an advocate for Ceres’ policy program goals. The position reports to the Senior Program Director of the Policy Program.

Responsibilities:

  • Design strategy and manage policy project work for the Investor Network on Climate Risk (INCR), including organizing working group meetings, briefings, outreach to policy makers, and collaboration with investor partners worldwide
  • Design strategy and oversee Ceres’ state policy work to support climate and energy policies in Ceres’ priority states through earned media and policy maker engagement
  • Enlist businesses and investors, on an on-going basis, to support climate and energy policy action
  • Research policy issues and develop action plans in response to legislative and regulatory developments of relevance
  • Represent Ceres, INCR externally with business and investor partners, and other stakeholders, as requested by Senior Program Director
  • Write policy positions, fact sheets, talking points and briefings for Ceres policy team, Ceres staff, and business and investor partners
  • Collaborate with Ceres communication team on strategic communications opportunities for the Policy Program, INCR policy work and other partners
  • Conduct outreach to Congress and state lawmakers to advance Ceres policy program goals
  • Supervise junior staff member and/or interns, including staff development, performance reviews, hiring, and termination.

Qualifications:

  • Master degree or equivalent education, preferred
  • Bachelor degree, required
  • 7 years work experience, preferred
  • 3 or more years of experience working on energy and/or climate change policy issues; experience with Congress, federal agencies, or state legislatures, a plus
  • Strong knowledge of energy and climate change issues, including an understanding of investor and business-focused policy debates, and NGO concerns
  • Experience working with investors, a plus.
  • Excellent personal and political communication and/or government-relations skills.
  • Mature and poised speaking and presentation skills
  • Highly developed writing skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work well independently
  • Willingness to travel on regular basis
