Description: The Projects Coordinator of Dickinson’s Center for Sustainability Education (CSE) will develop and manage projects, workshops, and events that use the campus as a living laboratory for hands-on learning about sustainability. The Projects Coordinator will supervise six to ten paid student interns each semester in a variety of projects, develop student volunteer opportunities, oversee Dickinson’s Handlebar Bike Cooperative, update and improve Dickinson’s greenhouse gas inventory, coordinate reporting about Dickinson’s sustainability efforts to external organizations, and assist with other activities that advance Dickinson’s sustainability goals. The Projects Coordinator will interact with staff from all divisions of the College, will work closely with facilities management staff and administrators, and will be the primary liaison between CSE and student organizations. The Projects Coordinator will perform these responsibilities with a high degree of independence and minimal supervision and will report to the Director of CSE. This is an entry-level position that will pay a competitive salary for an individual with a bachelor’s degree plus one or two years of relevant experience.

Qualifications:
A bachelor of arts or science degree or equivalent work experience.

One or two years experience managing sustainability or other projects in a college or similar setting.

Experience educating young people using experience-based learning methods.

Experience supervising student interns, volunteers and/or other workers.

Knowledge of and demonstrated interest in building sustainable communities.

Bike mechanic skills and demonstrated interest and enthusiasm for bikable communities.

Hands-on knowledge of renewable energy and energy conservation.

Familiarity with greenhouse gas inventories of colleges or other institutions.

Computer literacy and ability to work efficiently with word processing, spreadsheet and email applications.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills for working with students, faculty, staff, administrators, alumni and community members.

Trade skills (e.g. carpentry, electrical, plumbing), DIY skills or ‘handy-man’ skills a plus.

Must have a valid driver’s license.
