Position Title: Programme Officer, Global Platform on Climate Change, Trade and Sustainable Energy

Location: Geneva, Switzerland

Application Deadline: May 16, 2015

Description: To identify and pursue opportunities for trade and trade policy to contribute to sustainable development and more specifically to climate change mitigation- and adaptation

To further the understanding of trade in sustainable energy and climate friendly goods.

The programme officer will report to and be supervised by the Manager of the Global Platform on Climate Change, Trade and Sustainable Energy.

Responsibilities:

Carry out background research and identify topics for research and analysis in the area of trade in sustainable energy- and climate friendly goods;

Conduct and review trade law analysis across the work programme of the global platform;

Identify, contract and liaise with researchers;

Commission research and organise the review- and production process;

Conceive and organise policy dialogues in Geneva and abroad;

Prepare short analytical pieces, background material, information notes, blogs;

Contribute articles in ICTSD periodicals;

Communicate findings of ICTSD research in various policy dialogues;

Monitor developments in the WTO, UNFCCC and other relevant fora;

Website maintenance;

Any other task as required by the manager of the Global Platform.

Requirements:

Master’s degree in preferably in law, or in economics, political science, international relations or equivalent

Minimum five years of work experience

Documented knowledge about trade and trade policy

A proven interest in climate change/clean energy/ sustainable development

Experience in conducting research
