Industrial Energy Efficiency Intern, Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships – Massachusetts

Position Title: Industrial Energy Efficiency Intern

Location: Lexington, Massachusetts

Dates and compensation: 40 hours per week for the period May 2015 through December 2015; NEEP offers compensation for this position or will work with candidates to arrange for course credit if preferred.

Description: The Industrial Energy Efficiency Intern position will support NEEP’s regional project to accelerate the market adoption of Strategic Energy Management in the Industrial Sector. This exciting position will focus primarily on Stakeholder Engagement, Market Research & Analysis, and Resource Development.

Based in Lexington, Massachusetts, this temporary position will work 40 hours per week for the period May 2015 through December 2015 with the possibility of going to a permanent position if additional funding is received. This position reports to NEEP’s Senior Commercial and Industrial Advisor.

Responsibilities:

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Assist in organizing and convening working group meetings and teleconferences
  • Assist in organizing and convening in-person workshop/Summit
  • Assist in developing Working Group agendas, materials, notes
  • Assist in developing Briefings and Presentations based on project activity
  • Participate in selected regional/national webinars

Market Research and Analysis

  • Assist in the development of a Market Assessment Report of Regional Industry demographics, Energy Efficiency Program landscape and energy, peak demand, and carbon savings estimates.

Resource Development

  • Assist in the development of Northeast/Mid-Atlantic Industry-Specific Strategic Energy Performance Resource Guide
  • Assist in the development of Industry-Specific Regional Expert Request for Qualifications
  • Assist in the development of web-based Industry-Specific Regional Expert Directory & Network
  • Assist in the development of recommended best practice regulatory policies to support comprehensive performance-oriented industrial efficiency

The Intern may take on other tasks based on Program needs and the Intern’s interest and ability.

Qualifications:

  • Candidate may be a student pursuing BA or MA, preferably in a related energy, environmental, public policy or business field
  • Some experience in energy or environmental program or Industrial work
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to research technical questions and conduct analysis
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to take direction, work independently and coordinate work with others
  • Proficient use of spreadsheets, word processing, database and internet tools
  • Ability to be an advocate for NEEP’s mission and vision
